Reviews: Back to Index

The albums have been graded on the most common grading system used in Finnish schools. Where 4 is the worst, and 10 is the best. The final score for the album is most of the times the average for all of the tracks, though it can also change if the reviewer wishes so. The Super Eurobeat Non-Stop albums will be reviewed as full collections, and the individual songs won't be reviewed, unless they are completely new. Though Euromach and JGTC albums for example will have complete song by song reviews.
The grading system simply goes as ie. 4- (3,75), 4 (4), 4+ (4,25) and 4½ (4,5) and the next one again would be 5-. A simple system we have over here in Finland.
  Super Eurobeat 039

1.Domino - Domino Dancing (Dancing Mix) (A-Beat C)
A wise decision to put Domino as the album opener, one of the strongest female vocalists in Eurobeat history and she delivers a great track once again. A song that has a really powerful chorus, and the c-melody will definitely make you fall in love with the song if the other parts didn't already. A good add-on to her resume.
Rating : 9

2.Mike Hammer - Dancing (Crazy) Is No Crime (Time)
As A-Beat C has been delivering all of the best songs for some time the Time releases get a certain negative tone to them. Mike Hammer isn't a favorite or anything, but this time he succeeds in creating a good song that relies on the quite versatile backgrounds. Also the vocals succeed in being quite catchy, specially the edited vocals sound nice.

3.Angie Davies - Take Me In Your Limousine (Time)
A surprising streak by Time, two good songs in a row. Clara Moroni is a very good vocalist of course and she has been given a good song for a change. Specially the chorus accompanied by quite strange sounds create a really cool athmosphere. A big plus for the cool c-melody.

4.Juliet - Speak In English (A-Beat C)
An amazing intro! Really this is one of the best intros I've heard in any of the eurobeat songs. The song kicks off sounding quite calm but then the energy kicks in and the song bursts into full bloom. I was totally overwhelmed by this song when I heard it the first time and after multiple reruns it's still amazing. This was definitely the biggest surprise on the album. Closer to perfection.
Rating : 10

5.Gino Caria - Nobody Knows (Time)
This song at first sounded quite lame, but after I had listened through it a couple of times it suddenly gained a whole lot more interest. The verses aren't very catchy but the chorus fortunately has enough edge to make this song good in the end, very good.

6.Go Go Girls - Sunny Sunny Lady (A-Beat C)
An excellent intro and when the melody starts playing I always get a feeling like the sounds are a rip-off of 2 Unlimited's No Limit. The sounds are quite well done and the chorus sounds great. As always A. Gordon puts her best in this song and once the song grows on you, there's no turning back. Really efficient.

7.Teddy Boy - In The Jungle (Time)
Time has really worked hard on this album's tracks. Like the previous track also this time the label throws in a really great song. Again the backgrounds function really well, even if the vocals aren't very impressive the song is a real success.
Rating : 8+

8.Sandy Bee - Funky Funky Child (Time)
More of excellent Time works, I can't be anything but a bit amazed. I always used to make a mockery of the label for some reason but they've gained more and more credibility in my eyes. The songs have a huge variety in the backgrounds and the vocalists seem to get better and better as you listen to the songs more. A hit like the previous Time tracks.

9.DJ NRG - Extasy (Extasy Mix) (A-Beat C)
Well every album has to have a downhill at some point don't they? This time the downhill isn't very steep though. DJ NRG hasn't so far done any very great songs and he continues on the rather mediocore road. Extasy sounds nice for a few times but then it starts to repeat itself quite quickly. If you don't listen to the song too much it's all good, but don't you touch that repeat button.
Rating :

10.Valentina - Brown Brown Sugar (A-Beat C)
The album slows down a bit with this track as it's a rather common song for Valentina. And that's not a bad thing, her calmer style works really well as the album is otherwise packed full of really energetic song. This track doesn't succeed in being as catchy as some of her previous releases but still it's a good song.
Rating : 8+

11.Big Band - What Is Love (Time)
A rather fairytale-ish beginning, then when the song kicks in you get a real summertime feeling. The song has really sunny mood to it and the song is really positive, quite unusually positive for Time actually. Though that is again a real plus as the label doesn't seem to stop surprising me every now and then. Not a very longlasting song, but if you're looking for happy summertime tracks then this one would surely satisfy you.

12.Annalise - O.K.! All Right! (A-Beat C)
Wow, Annalise has been magnificent before but this really tops anything that she's done before. A perfect dance song to make you move, specially the energetic chorus works like a charm. Rarely do the lyrics have as big of an effect like this time, simple but at the same time very catchy.
Rating : 10

13.Mr. Groove - Love In Chinatown (A-Beat C)
A freaky intro with strange sounds, at least it manages to leave an impression, and fortunately so does the rest of the song. A great chorus accompanied with cool synth sounds, one of his best songs out to date.

Final Words :
One of the better Super Eurobeat albums out there. This album offers some true gems in the form of Annalise and Juliet, the latter one was a total surprise as I hadn't expected such a powerful song by a more unknown name. Also there are no bad songs on the album at all, in the end this album leaves a really positive vibe and the two best tracks are bound to be my favorites for a long time.

Final Score : 9-
