Super Eurobeat 118
1.Domino - ParaPara Paradise (A-Beat C)
If somebody in the Eurobeat scene doesn't already know this song then they
really have been living in a cave. This is in my opinion one of the best
eurobeat songs ever produced, the song is what I would call perfect music.
The vocals are extremely catchy and the melody itself is something
heavenly. The track is just unbelievebly catchy and the chorus sums up the
essence of eurobeat perfectly, it's all about having fun and enjoying the
music.
Do you wanna be happy baby? This track deserves a place in
the eurobeat hall of fame.
Rating : 10+++
2.Donna - Broken Heart (Delta)
The extremely catchy music continues. If the previous song was a real
classic this song isn't left far behind. The backgrounds are beyond hyper
and the vocals are really impressive. A definite hit by
Donna, and
an another unbelievebly good song, so the beginning for the album couldn't
have been much better.
Rating : 10
3.Powerful T. - Fight For Your Empire (A-Beat C)
The freaky
Powerful T. lyrics are here, and they still go up and
down strangely but that creates a nice hook to grab on to. I was quite
amazed how this track continued the great level of the album and specially
the melody in this track kicks ass. Not as perfect material as the
previous 2 songs but also a very good song.
Rating : 9+
4.Symbol - Lovin' You (Time)
An unique intro with some cool sounds blasts into energy quickly. And
quite surprisingly the song doesn't really rely on the classic eurobeat
synth & beat but creates a different kind of athmosphere with some cool
effects in the backgrounds. A really cool song, which carries the
extremely high level of this album.
Rating : 9+
5.Dr. Love - She Bangs (Delta)
If the album opener is a classic, then
Dr. Love's
Eurobeat
is another song that also deserves the title of a classic. I've gotten
used to the great releases
Dr. Love does and this time he continues
on his way to eurobeat heaven. A really catchy song and the c-melody is
plain perfect. Also a really catchy chorus.
Rating : 9
6.Giselle - If You Believe Me (Time)
This track made a huge impact on me at the first time I listened to it
through. The vocals are beyond beautiful and the melody is just awesome. I
really fell in love with the song right away, I wasn't expecting the album
to include any as huge hits as the beginning but this track is also a
perfect eurobeat song.
Rating : 10
7.Mega NRG Man - King Kong Back
(A-Beat C)
Wow, I was getting ready for a steep downhill but I was wrong, gladly. A
really energetic song by the one and only NRGie. A really energetic song
from the beginning to the end and the track feels like the chorus would go
on thorough the whole song, which is a great thing.
Rating : 9+
8.High Level - Angel Of My Heart (Time)
High Level so far has never really impressed me, so it's about time
they managed to do that. An extremely energetic song with a great melody.
The song only suffers from rather mediocore vocals, the lyrics are decent
with the normal lovey-dovey theme but if a better vocalist was at work
this track would've been a perfect 10.
Rating : 9-
9.Norma Sheffield - In My Dreams (A-Beat C)
This is the first time the album slows down a bit, the song starts out
with a very beautiful violin solo that creates a very relaxing athmosphere.
The song uses violins thorough it and really gives the song a nice spice.
Norma Sheffield has her own unique performance style still there
and the song is one of the better ones she has done on her career. Extra
points for the tremendously beautiful chorus.
Rating : 9½
10.Arena 69 - I'm Dreaming (Time)
Halfway though the album and I was gasping at the high level of the songs,
and the fun just keeps on going. The vocalist sounds like
Eiffel 65
because of the small vocoder effect used in the vocals. I generally hate
vocoders but as they aren't used very much here they just give a really
nice touch to the song. A great melody backed up with a great beat.
Rating : 9½
11.Melody - Why Not? (Delta)
A rather boring intro turns out to something awesome. The track features
cool backgrounds and really catchy vocal work by the wonderful
Melody.
The song sticks out from the other songs by the very variable backgrounds
that have nice gimmicks here and there, also the c-melody is really funny.
Rating : 10-
12.Helena - Sweet Dream (Time)
I was expecting for the notch in the level of the album with this track,
and I was somewhat right. The track is actually very good, but with the
level of the other songs it doesn't quite reach them. The song has some
nice vocal work by
Helena and the lyrics sound really soothing. A
great song, it just was unfortunately in the company of even better songs.
Rating : 8½
13.Kevin Johnson - Crime Of Passion (Delta)
Kevin Johnson continues to amaze me as he releases a really awesome
song. The track features wonderful vocals and a really variable backgounds.
The chorus works marvellously and the song offers some real treats for the
fans of
Kevin.
Rating : 9+
14.Matt Land - Rock My Heart (A-Beat C)
At this point of the album I already knew that the level is something
different from the majority of SEBs. And when my favorite male artists is
also featured in it I was in heaven.
Matt Land sounds great as
always and the song also sounds great. Some wonderful editing with the
backgrounds and the track slowly grows on you as you hear it more and more.
At first it may not sound very special but slowly it sticks out as one of
the best songs on this album. Way to go
Matteo!
Rating : 10
15.Funny - Life Is A Game (Time)
A rather A-Beat C'ish intro with guitars and the basic gimmicks... The
guitars fortunately are dropped out and the song changes into a happy
bubblegum-my song (well what do you expect from a title called
Funny?).
It's always nice having cheery and happy songs on SEBs as I value them
very much, the song isn't the best one on this album but it's also a great
hit. Not the kind of material I would've expected from Time but I was
again gladly surprised.
Rating : 9½
16.Niko - Onto The Beat Of My Bang! Bang! (Delta)
Not your typical intro for
Niko, but the song on the other hand...
Electric guitars,
Niko screaming like he was tortured, and yeah a
great melody and great backgrounds. I still think that this is one
horrible vocalist who has great songs in the end. I've slowly grown to the
level that I actually can listen to him without having to turn the sound
down, so perhaps sometime in the future I'll actually say that I like him.
But in the end this is a rather good song, especially the backgrounds
rock.
Rating : 8½
17.Lolita - Easy (A-Beat C)
Well as the album gets closer to the end we're treated to another awesome
song.
Lolita like
Matt Land is always something I look
forward to and neither of them disappointed me on this album. The song is
very speedy and the chorus is really easy to sing along to, the c-melody
after the chorus is beyond energetic and this song really doesn't slow
down even for a second. Wonderful!
Rating : 10
18.MAX - Magic (Eurobeat Mix)
People who know MAX have already gotten used to the high level of
their releases. This track follows along the lines of other eurobeat
remixes. A groovy song with great Japanese vocals, and of course a bit of
English in the mix. A catchy chorus and variable backgrounds over all.
Rating : 8½
Final Words :
I don't have to say much about this album actually. I am really amazed
about the level of the songs and how they actually were able to put an
album as good as this together. All of the tracks are good, and there are
multiple awesome songs that deserved a perfect grade. Avex really deserves
a huge round of appluades for their work on this one, they couldn't have
probably picked a better selection. And even if the album doesn't have the
average of 10, I am going to give it a perfect grade for the fact that
this is just a one of a kind album.
