haha that is nuts, but I see your point since back in the day Dee Dee did his best to sound a bit Gino Cariash in sons like Millenium. Hot Love Games and $1000.Call me crazy, but when I heard Let The Music Play for the first time, I thought I heard the late Gino Caria. o_O
Great album though, LOVE Phil's songs, so the piano version of Only For Love Only For You was awesome to hear!

Just a little heads-up for you all...
The 199 extended versions are now on morawin (well, they may have been there for a while - I haven't checked it in ages!) but the last time a Super Eurobeat album was updated on there (198) it appeared on iTunes Japan on the same day.
Sadly, there is no sign of it on iTunes yet, but hopefully it won't be too long. The track lengths make for some interesting reading...

- ETERNITY is a mouth-watering 6:39 Can't wait to hear that epic masterpiece in all its glory!
- Hi-NRG Attack break the mould of the recent "new" tracks by giving us a 5:54 version of RUNNING TO MY CAR. SUPER EUROBEAT is also a "true" extended at 5:43.
- Sadly, GGM's SUPER EUROBEAT is a mere 4:11 - only just over 1:30 longer than the SEB megamix edit.

I'm afraid not drnrg - Eternity by Aleky is only on www.musico.jp because it is also on the Campus Summit 2009 album. There aren't any SEB albums on that site. Believe me, if there was people would have told you sooner!drnrg wrote:Are the other songs on there too? How about a link?
I was bored and decided to listen to the album. Here are my thoughts.
I can't express how underwhelmed I was with Hi-NRG Attack's version of 'Super Eurobeat'. Monotonous soundworlds. More fire. More desire. Ugh. You'd think that they would have tried something that would 'WOW' us with a song titled 'Super Eurobeat', but if this is the best they can muster, then I'm seriously worried as to how they'll perform beyond 200. It's a wonder why people still enjoy their recent stuff, as all their songs from 180 onwards sound nearly the same to me with very few exceptions.
I really enjoyed Eurogrooves' version of 'Super Eurobeat'; my favourite of the three versions on this album. I can see how people would find it boring, but gosh, at least it's not the same freaking thing they've done for the past two or three years.
The Go Go's Music version of 'Super Eurobeat' was cute. I can't see myself coming back to it much in the future though.
As for the rest of the songs, 'Eternity' was pretty amazing. I found the vocals quite amateurish, but on the whole it was quite excellent. The most memorable on the album for me, but I'm not sure if I'd call it the best of the new lot.
'Dance in My Town' was really cool, and along with 'Eternity' and 'Super Eurobeat' (by Eurogrooves), it would be amongst my top three on the album. However, as we've come to expect from Dave's duets, they always start out explosive yet slowly turn into lame ballads after he has partnered with a certain female for a while. So while quite a few people have said that Futura redeemed herself with this song after the train wreck that was 'I'm Superstar', I'm not so sure if she and Dave can keep up this level. Actually, I know they won't.
Finally, SinclaireStyle fucks it up yet again with 'Before Tomorrow'. What a bag of chaos that sore excuse of a song was.
Overall, it was an alright album. Mostly average productions. If you're considering the purchase and you're not a collector, then I'd advise against it personally.

Top 3
- Eurogrooves All Stars - Super Eurobeat
- Aleky - Eternity
- Dave & Futura - Dance in My Town
- Franz Tornado & the Tri-Star Girls - Super Eurobeat
- Nuage - Before Tomorrow
- Go 2 & DJ Boss - Superstar (not really that bad compared to these other two, but not memorable by any means)
It's my personal opinion that HRG's being stifled by avex's requests. I know they can churn out better (and their recent, non-Avex influenced releases are proof), and I can damn near HEAR the frustration in their recent entries. I wouldn't count them entirely out; just don't assume that their SEB entries will top their online–only material.Jay wrote: I can't express how underwhelmed I was with Hi-NRG Attack's version of 'Super Eurobeat'. Before Tomorrow wasn't particularly great, but it's definitely a step backwards for Leonardi if you ask me.
I actually loved the album as a whole— not exactly a classic, but an enjoyable listen. And, God forbid, I actually enjoyed the Dall'Ora Family version of "Barbie Girl".
A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

I actually kind of agree that Hi-NRG Attack hasn't really been all that great in terms of brand new stuff. The stuff released on juno and iTunes has been really nice, but that's mainly because a lot of the songs come from time periods around 2002 to 2006, when their material was more creative and variable. This "newer" style kind of started around the beginning of the 170's decade, and during that time, I actually thought it was a nice change as their songs were still nice and punchy, with good melodic structures. A few examples of this for me are Hot Dog / Bazooka Girl, Tom Rider / Joe Banana, and Back In Danger / Jeff Driller. However, around 2008 (production-wise, not release-wise), things started to head south, as for some reason the label's songs tended to meander around very similar melodies and didn't offer much in the way of good lyrics, not to mention the production, while pretty similar to the 170's, sounded drier and wasn't as refined, as songs often had high-pitched lead synths or were mastered so that the vocals were really weak and hard to hear. A few recent songs that suffered this problem for me are Wild Boy Bad Love / Joe Banana, Ike Ike 2009 / Pistol Girl, and Super Eurobeat, as Jay mentioned. While I still have liked some newer songs from the label, such as Matrioska Niet Ketiuska, Anthem, and Si La Do, the general level hasn't really been at its best as of late I think.zoupzuop2 wrote:It's my personal opinion that HRG's being stifled by avex's requests.
